About our Business Consulting practice

We started in 2016 with a simple idea: give owner-managed businesses the same quality of advice that large corporations get from the big firms, at a price that makes commercial sense.

How we got here

The firm began when our founder, Rachel Caldwell, left a senior strategy role at a Big Four consultancy. She had spent eight years advising FTSE 250 companies, but the work that excited her most was a pro-bono project helping a family-run food manufacturer in County Antrim restructure its supply chain. That project saved the company £140,000 a year and kept 22 jobs in the local community.

Rachel realised that thousands of businesses between £500k and £25m in turnover face the same strategic challenges as large enterprises but cannot justify a £200,000 consulting fee. She set up Dynamic Biz Consultants to serve that market with the same rigour, at a fraction of the cost.

The first year was two clients and a kitchen table. By 2019, the team had grown to four consultants and moved into a proper office on Clay Lane in Nether Hegmannfield. Today we are a team of seven, and we have worked with businesses in manufacturing, professional services, hospitality, logistics, healthcare and technology.

We remain deliberately small. Every client works directly with a senior consultant, not a junior analyst who reads from a playbook. That is the model we started with, and it is the model we intend to keep.

What we believe

These are not slogans on a wall. They are the rules we use to make decisions about which clients to take, how to scope engagements and when to push back.

Specificity over generality

A recommendation that could apply to any business is not useful to yours. We tailor every piece of advice to your numbers, your market and your team. If we cannot make it specific, we do not say it.

Outcomes, not outputs

We measure our work by what changes in your business, not by how many slides we produce. A 60-page report that sits in a drawer is worth less than a one-page action plan that gets executed.

Candour

We will disagree with you when we think you are wrong. Politely, with evidence, but clearly. You deserve an honest outside perspective, and that is what you are paying for.

Finish what you start

Too many consultancies diagnose a problem and then leave the client to fix it alone. We stay through implementation because that is where plans succeed or fail.

The team

Seven people, each with at least a decade of hands-on experience in their speciality. Here are the four you are most likely to work with.

By the numbers

Since 2016, we have completed 283 consulting engagements. The average engagement lasts five months. Our longest-running client relationship is now in its seventh year: a hospitality group in Belfast that started with a single restaurant and now operates four venues.

Client satisfaction, measured through anonymous post-engagement surveys, averages 4.6 out of 5. The question that scores highest is "Did the consultant understand your business?" at 4.8 out of 5. The question that scores lowest is "Was the engagement long enough?" at 4.1 out of 5, which tells us clients often wish they had more time with us rather than less.

About 70% of our new clients come from referrals. The rest find us through this website or through local business networks like the Federation of Small Businesses and Invest Northern Ireland events.
